Make sure you’re prepared for updates to visa, citizenship, and tribunal application fees.
Starting today, 1 July 2025, the Australian Government will increase several application fees. These changes happen every year to match the rising cost of living (called CPI or Consumer Price Index). Here’s what you need to know:

Visa Application Charges (VAC)
Most visa fees will go up by 3.00%, rounded to the nearest $5.
The Student Visa (Subclass 500) and Student Guardian Visa (Subclass 590) will increase more than others — from $1,600 to $2,000.
Citizenship Application Fees
Citizenship application fees will also rise due to new government rules from $560 to $575.
Tribunal (ART) Fees
These are fees for people requesting a review of their visa decision:
Migration decision review: Increasing to $3,580 (from $3,496)
Protection visa review (if not successful): $2,203 (from $2,151)
The new fees apply to any payments made on or after 1 July 2025, even if the application was sent earlier.
