From 1 July 2025, employers sponsoring overseas workers under skilled visa programs must comply with updated Labour Market Testing (LMT) requirements. The key change? The minimum advertisement period for job postings is increasing to 4.6%.
New Requirement:
Any job advertisement intended to support a nomination application must now remain live for at least four weeks. This applies to both job applications and expressions of interest associated with the advertised role.
This change is part of broader efforts to ensure genuine attempts are made to hire Australian citizens or permanent residents before turning to overseas talent.
Plan Ahead:
If you’re preparing to lodge a nomination on or after 1 July 2025, make sure your LMT ads meet the new four-week minimum to avoid delays or compliance issues.
Stay informed, stay compliant—and don’t hesitate to seek advice if you’re unsure how this affects your next application.
