Employer Nomination Scheme (subclass 186) Visas are permanent residency visas designed for skilled workers who are nominated by an Australian employer. ENS (sc 186) visa is composed of three streams: (1) Direct Entry Stream, (2) Labour-Agreement Stream, and (3) Temporary Residence Transition Stream. These visas are available to both onshore and offshore applicants.

What can you do with this visa?
Live, Study, and Work
You can live, study, and work in Australia indefinitely.
Sponsor Family
You can sponsor family members to come to Australia for permanent residence, if eligible.
Travel
You can travel to and from Australia for 5 years.
Health Care
You can enroll in Australia’s public health care scheme.
Australian Citizenship
You can apply for Australian Citizenship, if eligible.

To apply in the TRT Stream, you must:
Hold a subclass 457, 482 (TSS), or related Bridging Visa A, B, or C.
Have worked full-time for your employer for at least 2 years of the 3 years before nomination.
Have been nominated by an Australian employer whose nomination was approved in the 6 months before you apply.
Have the required skills and qualifications needed to perform the tasks of the nominated occupation.
Be licensed, registered, or a member of a professional body if it is mandatory in the state or territory you intend to work in.
Be under 45 years of age when you apply, except exemption applies.
Have at least Competent English.
Meet character requirement.
Meet health requirement.
Lodgment:
Under the new policies implemented on 25 November 2023, nomination applications under the Subclass 186 ENS in the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream can now be lodged a few days but no more than 5 days before the completion of the 2-year requirement to avoid applicants needing to lodge an interim visa application to maintain the lawful status.

Permanent Residency can now be aimed faster because of the new changes in applying ENS Visa (subclass 186) on 25 November 2023 which aligns with the migration strategy of the Australian Government.
Further changes to the Australian Migration System are expected to be announced in late 2024. We will provide details once new changes are released.
