Important Update: New CSIT & SSIT Salary Thresholds Effective 1 July 2026

Significant updates are coming into effect from 1 July 2026, and they will directly impact employer-sponsored visa applications under Australia’s skilled migration program.

For the 2026–27 program year, the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) and Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) will be indexed. These changes will affect all relevant Subclass 482 and Subclass 186 applications lodged on or after this date.

These updates reflect annual adjustments to income thresholds—but they also mean employers and applicants must plan ahead carefully to ensure compliance and avoid unexpected eligibility issues.

What’s Changing?

Beginning 1 July 2026:

🔹 The Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) will increase to $79,499 (from $76,515)

🔹 The Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) will increase to $146,717 (from $141,210)

These updated thresholds will apply to all relevant Subclass 482 (Skills in Demand Visa) and Subclass 186 (Employer Nomination Scheme Visa) applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026.
