New Legislative Update: Changes to the ENS 186 TRT Stream from 29 November 2025

ree

Significant legislative changes are coming into effect from 29 November 2025, and they will directly impact skilled workers planning to transition from a Temporary Skill Shortage (482) visa to Permanent Residency under the Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) 186 – Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream.

These updates are designed to create a more transparent and consistent pathway—but they also mean applicants must plan carefully to avoid delays or eligibility issues.

What’s Changing?

Beginning 29 November 2025:

🔹 Only work experience gained with your approved sponsoring employer will count toward meeting the 186 TRT requirements. 🔹 Any work experience outside your sponsor will no longer be recognised—including time you spent working while waiting for your 482 nomination approval.

This shift places greater importance on understanding your timeline, your employer’s obligations, and how your work experience aligns with the new rules.

What This Means for Your PR Pathway

If you’re building your pathway to permanent residency, these changes may influence your eligibility timeframe. Ensuring your work experience is aligned with your sponsoring employer is now more critical than ever.

At Little Florence Solutions, we help skilled workers and employers navigate these updates with clarity and confidence—so you can stay on track toward your permanent residency goals.
